Day 3 of 30-Day Charity Challenge

Tuesday Tip Giveaway

Today I came up with what I believe to be a pretty unique way to give. I have many jobs, one of them is as a server at Biaggis Italian Restaurant in West Des Moines, IA. I thought that a great way to get others involved in my giving project would be to approach them during my shift and talk to them about Give(3). I came up with the idea to take one tables tip from tonight and donate the tip to a charity of their choice. This way I am spreading the word about Give(3) and also getting people involved. I had a feeling that tonight was going to be a pretty slow night so I chose to approach my first table of the night in case I didn't get another. Marilyn and her husband were my first customers of the night. They made great choices and ordered a couple Ceasar salads the excellent Garlic Shrimp Oregenata and Rigatoni Bolognese. When I asked if they were interested in dessert Marilyn's husband said "are you kidding me, its the beginning of the year nobody wants dessert." This gave me the perfect opportunity to mention my new years resolution. I mentioned that my resolution was to be more charitable. I gave them a piece of paper and asked them to write their name, email, and favorite charity. I also gave them a paper with the name of my blog so they could check out my 30-day charity challenge. Marilyn and her husband's favorite charity is Child Serve Center in Johnston, IA. So tomorrow I will be donating my $10 tip that I received from them to Child Serve. I plan on repeating this more Tuesdays to come.
